Mark K. Faulkner

ALLEGANY — Mark K. Faulkner, 69, of Allegany, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Thursday (Nov. 5, 2026) after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Aug. 11, 1957, at St. Francis Hospital in Olean, he was the son of Raymond and Mary Lampack Faulkner. On June 21, 1980, at the First Presbyterian Church in Arkport, he married Ann M. Barnard, who survives.

Mark was a 1975 graduate of Allegany Central School and earned associate degrees in architectural engineering and construction management from Alfred State College.

He was employed as an expert bridge foreman for the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works. Until his retirement in 2019, his technical expertise and dedication to his craft were highly respected and relied upon for either building or maintaining many of the County’s bridges.

Mark had a passion for collecting sports cards over the years and enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends at their house in Florida.

Mark was “dad” to many of his son’s and daughter’s friends, whether it was coaching youth sports, offering encouragement or simply being there when someone needed him. He especially treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ann; two children, Timothy (Stevy) Faulkner of Oswego and Evelyn (Edward) Bysiek of Allegany; three grandchildren, Edward IV, Sylvia and Juliana Bysiek; two brothers, Brian (Wanda) Faulkner of Allegany and Bruce (Tina) Faulkner of Jamestown; one sister, Nancy (Ken) Hopkins of Hickory, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rev. David and Tracey Barnard of Addison.

The family will be present to receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 8, 2026) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday (Nov. 9, 2026) at the St. Bonaventure University Chapel. Fr. Michael Calabria, OFM, will officiate.

Memorials may be made to a public library of the donor’s choosing.
