Neil E. Storms
MCCOLL, S.C. — Neil E. Storms, of New Bridge Road, passed away Monday (Sept. 5, 2026).
Neil was born Oct. 31, 1966, in Olean, N.Y., and spent much of his childhood in the Olean and Wellsville, N.Y., area until his family moved to South Carolina.
Neil returned to the Olean area after high school. In 1989 he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he spent four years serving our country.
In that time he met his wife, Jessica and had two children, Sydney and Andrew.
Neil received an honorable discharge in 1993. After the Army, Neil became a welder and worked for many years at Genesee Metal in Cuba, N.Y.
His real passion though was working with his hands. He loved carving and making furniture. He also loved to draw. He spent most of his free time outside, either deciding which branch might make the best furniture or just enjoying the peace and stillness he found by the water.
Neil will be remembered for so many things, but most notably his amazing curls, charm and a smile that welcomed everyone. We love you and you will be greatly missed, until then we will keep smiling like you taught us, cuz “There I wuz!”
Neil is survived by his parents, Judy Burrows Storms and Neil Storms; seven siblings, Shelly, Peggy, Heather, Sarah, Audrey, Stephen and Casey; 21 nieces and nephews; his children, Sydney (John Sosa) Storms and Andrew (Alyssa Kranock) Storms; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Xavier, Ava, Asher, Alyus and Jessi; and many other loving friends and family.
Neil is predeceased by his wife, Jessica Hoffman Storms; his nephew, Andrew Jeffcoat; and his grandparents, Oletha Monahan Storms, Walter Storms, Dorris, Halladay Burrows and Joseph Burrows.
