Military honor memorial service, Oct. 19, 2026

DALLAS, Texas — Together in life and now forever in peace, Patricia Lorraine Burroughs Chastain was promoted to heaven on Sept. 26, 2013 and Floyd Paul Chastain Jr. was promoted to heaven on July 26, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of deep love and family devotion.

Patricia — Trish or Patty — was born on Aug. 27, 1930, in Smethport, Pa. to Freeman and Susan Burroughs of Portville, N.Y.

She spent her life as a homemaker and grandma, known by everyone for her deep devotion to Jesus, her piano playing hymns, compassion, generosity, intellect and wit. She brought light to every room and loved being the center of attention.

Floyd — known by Chasty and Junior — was born Oct. 19, 1927, in Olean, N.Y., to Floyd Chastain and Maude Chastain of Shinglehouse, Pa.

He was a proud professional pattern maker, avid hunter and fisherman. Chasty is remembered for his easy-going calm demeanor, kindness and his ability to laugh and make others feel like they mattered, and his favorite phrase, “For Pete’s Sake.”

He was a gentle person who was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.

They moved to Arlington when Floyd left Dussault Foundry in Lockport, N.Y., where he had worked for 25 years.  The two were married on Sept. 23, 1949, and spent 64 beautiful years building a life centered on faith, family and unconditional support to each other. They were a team in every sense, facing life’s joys and challenges hand-in-hand.

They are survived by their children, Robert Chastain of Navarra Beach, Fla., Ann (David) Cosline of Arlington, Jan (Steve) Piveral of Covington, David (Maggie) Chastain of Arlington and Kelly ( William) Gaygen of Middleport, N.Y.; their grandchildren, Michael Chastain, Christy Langdon, Mathew Palmer, Frank Palmer, Christine Cosline, Summer Howard, Andrew Piveral, Faith Piveral, Sarah Gaygen and Sean Gaygen; and many great-grandchildren.

They were preceded in death by their parents; and grandson, Robert Chastain Jr.

A joint celebration of their lives will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2026,  at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, where Floyd and Patricia will be interred together following a military honors funeral to honor Floyd’s service in the U.S. Army/Airforce in WWII.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in their memory to the Salvation Army.
