Patricia J. McNeil, Pat was known to be kind, caring and compassionate

PORTVILLE — Patricia J. McNeil passed away Thursday (Oct. 1, 2026).

Patricia was born July 31, 1947, the daughter of Charles and Mary Jernick Grigonis. Patricia married Richard McNeil on Nov. 25, 1972, at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Southold, Long Island.

She furthered her education at SUNY Fredonia, graduating in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

She went to work as an English teacher at the middle school in Riverhead for 19 years.

Patricia was involved in Keynote Chorus of Portville, Genesee Valley Chorus, Choral Society of the Hamptons, Choral Society of the Moriches, Berkshire Choral Festival, various church choirs and as Keynote Choir performed in England, Scotland and Wales. She served on the board of directors of the Pfeiffer Nature Center.

She is survived by her husband, Richard.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents; and siblings, Bill, Charles, Richard, Marge, Mary, Ann and Monica.

Family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 7, 2026) at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s with burial to follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
