BELMONT — A regional chain has purchased the village’s hardware store.

Waterloo-based HEP Sales and North Main Lumber announced the acquisition of Belmont Hardware, at 12 Schuyler St., this week.

“We are excited to welcome Belmont Hardware into the HEP Sales and North Main Lumber family,” said HEP President Max Krueger. “Belmont Hardware has been an important part of the community for many years and we look forward to building on that tradition while continuing to serve homeowners and contractors.”

Company officials said the personnel, service and other qualities that attracted customers will remain, as well as additional access to the selection of building materials and other products available from the HEP chain.

HEP was founded in 1961, and has 11 existing locations in Wellsville and around the Finger Lakes region. The Wellsville store was previously known as South Main Lumber.
