Richardson is a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Frank Carus, Tripi is an Erie County Family Court judge, and Hickey is the Clarence town justice. The three are among seven candidates for four judgeships in the Eighth Judicial District in November. Craig R. Bucki and Anne E. Joynt will appear on the Democratic and Working Families lines; Michael L. Amodeo will appear on the Democratic, Republican and Working Families lines; Richardson will appear on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative lines; Tripi and Hickey will appear on the Republican and Conservative lines; and Robert Vario will appear on the Conservative line. Elected to 14-year terms, the state Supreme Court court justices hear major civil and criminal cases across the district, including civil cases over $25,000. The Eighth Judicial District is responsible for trial courts in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.
