Carol A. Kyser

ALLEGANY — Carol A. Kyser, of Allegany, passed away Saturday (Sept. 12, 2026) at Olean General Hospital, after a short illness.

She was born Dec. 13, 1949, and was the daughter of Julius and Genevieve Stanek Plewnarz. On Oct. 17, 1975, at the former St. John the Baptist Church in Vandalia, she married Ronald Kyser, who survives.

Carol attended elementary school in Olean and graduated from Archbishop Walsh High School in 1968. She then received her nursing degree from St. James Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1971.

From the time of her graduation until her retirement in January of 1992, she had been employed as a registered nurse at Olean General Hospital.

She was a member of St. Bonaventure Parish. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family as well as having been an avid reader.

She leaves behind her husband, Ron, one son, Andrew (Stacey) Kyser of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Nathan, Jude and Lauren; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Plewnarz of Diamond Bar, Calif. and Kathleen’s two sons; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Deanna Kyser of Olean; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Beth Taggerty of Portville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert Plewnarz.

A private visitation and funeral will be held at the convenience of the family, with burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
