Sylvia Joyce King
Born in Mishawaka Ind. on Oct. 2, 1935, Sylvia lived a full and vibrant life defined by service to others, warmth, kindness and deep devotion to her family. Her journey in hospitality began in her early youth working alongside her parents, Morris and Margaret, at their restaurant, the M&M Grill in Colon, Mich. It was there that Sylvia began honing what would become her lifelong love language: service to others with genuine care and respect. It was also where she met the man who would become her husband.
Sylvia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arlon in January, 2020; her infant son, Michael; and her parents and siblings.
Sylvia will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Arlon, in a private family burial. A celebration of life will be held in the Pulaski area in the coming months for family and friends to gather and honor her memory.
Perhaps her greatest accomplishment in life was not by choice as she assumed the role of matriarch of the King Family. The lessons she handed down the generations shaped our family: make the best of your life challenges as there are many, an unwavering devotion to your spouse in good times and in bad, a will to live life that defied the odds, a calm voice of wisdom and kindness that draws even strangers to a circle of friends. She will be missed but leaves behind an indelible imprint on the lives she touched which will carry on.
