On Wednesday, National Grid donated 100 backpacks full of school supplies to Washington West Elementary School, which will distribute them to children within the Olean City School District. Joining a couple of students — who likely earned extra credit for lending a helping hand — were (from left) kindergarten teacher Michelle Robinson, her husband, Vernon Robinson, a National Grid supervisor, and Washington West Principal Lauren Stuff. The backpacks were among approximately 2,000 that National Grid donated to various Western New York communities ahead of the new school year.
