Donald R. Shelton

OLEAN — Donald R. Shelton, 61, of, Olean, and formerly of Friendship, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, at Olean General Hospital, after 30-year battle with Parkinsons Disease.

Born Jan. 5, 1965, in Cuba, he was a son of Donald Shelton and Tina Schwab Yanke.

Donald was a lifelong resident of Allegany and Cattaraugus County and made many friends in the area that all loved him and will miss him.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A special thanks to Jerry Palmer, his cousin, and Ian McNulty, his nephew, for helping him to remain independent throughout his life.

He is survived by his mother, Tina Yanke of Inverness Florida; a son, Anthony Shelton of Scranton, Pa.; a stepson, Josh Hadsell of Hornell; four grandchildren; three brothers, Michael Shelton, Eric (Jennifer) Shelton of Kalkaska, Mich. and Andrew (Beth) Shelton of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Debora (John) McNulty of Inverness, Fla. and Andrea (Paul) Yanke of Elwood, Pa.; two uncles, James Schwab and Richard Schwab; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, Daniel Yanke; uncle, Jay Schwab; and aunts, Amy Palmer, Linda Barnett and Diane Creech.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.

Donald’s cremation was entrusted to the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., Cuba.
