ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Kathy Ann Goodrich Nickler, 74, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in St. Augustine, following a long illness.

She was born July 18, 1952, at the U.S. Naval Base Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. On Aug. 21, 1971, she married Thomas Patrick Nickler at St. Patrick’s Church in Salamanca, N.Y.

Kathy graduated from Salamanca (N.Y.) High School in 1970. She continued her education at Jamestown (N.Y.) Community College, earning an associate degree in applied science. In October, 1973, she received her certification from the State of New York as a registered professional nurse.

Kathy worked as a registered nurse at Salamanca Hospital, in Salamanca, and St. Francis Hospital in Olean, N.Y. She later worked as an RN for Dr. Lewis at the Olean Medical Group.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her children, Patrick (Allison) Nickler of Falls Church, Va., Erin (Jeremy) Hammond of Savannah, Ga. and David Nickler of St. Augustine; her sister, Carol (John) Torcello of Granada Hills, Calif.; and her beloved grandchildren, Nyah Hammond, Lane Hammond, Dean Nickler, Greyson Nickler, Connor Nickler and Bennett Nickler.

She was predeceased by her parents, Rosemary Puvel Goodrich and James Goodrich; her paternal grandparents, Loren and Dorothy Parker Goodrich; and her maternal grandparents, Carl and Helen Puvel.

Memorial services are being coordinated by the Craig Funeral Home of St. Augustine. Her life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, at the St. Ambrose Church, Elkton. Friends are welcomed to share her memory.

Memorials may be made to the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum as well as the Salamanca Library.

Though her life’s journey has come to an end, Kathy’s life remains a testimony to the goodness of her being and the beauty of a life well lived. She will be deeply missed.

Rest in Peace. You will be loved forever… until we meet again.
