MACHIAS — Ruth T. Brown, of Marble Road, passed away Thursday (July 23, 2026) at Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry.

Ruth was born July 28, 1929, in Buffalo, and was the daughter of Wesley and Lola Hartman Tresch. On Oct. 7, 1950, she married George P. Brown, who predeceased her Oct. 18, 2013.

Ruth was a graduate of East High School in Buffalo.

She worked at Mickey’s Restaurant in Yorkshire as a cook for 15 years. She also worked at the Odosagih Bible Conference and NY Telephone Company in the Buffalo office.

Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church of Machias. She enjoyed gardening, reading and was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association

Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Linda (Robert) Dunlap of Machias, Rosalie (Lynn) Meyers of Delevan and Virginia (Peter) Rehler of Allegany; a son, George (Diane) Brown Jr. of Machias; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, George; and three brothers, Wesley Tresch, Calvin (Sue) Tresch and Allen (Shirley) Tresch.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at the First Christian Church of Machias, 9656 Main St., Machias, at which time a funeral service will be held. The Rev. Ross Thompson will officiate.
