Duane Kirk Vollentine
BOLIVAR — Duane “Kirk” Vollentine passed away peacefully Wednesday (July 22, 2026) at the age of 94, surrounded by the love of his family.
Raised in Falconer, Kirk grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility. In his early years, Kirk worked on several dairy farms before being drafted into the U.S. Army. His time in the military took him overseas to serve his country in Japan. After his time in the armed service, Kirk attended Alfred State, where he studied animal husbandry and played football.
In August of 1953, in the First Presbyterian Church in Faulkner, Kirk married his sweetheart, Irene Bakerzinski.
Kirk enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time at the Pulaski Club of Olean. He was known to be quick with a joke and enjoyed cutting a rug. Those who knew him will remember his warm smile, adventurous spirit and the lasting impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
He is survived by his loving partner, Joyce Grabow; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Pauline Darts Vollentine; a sister, Carolyn Harris; and his bride of 60 years, Irene.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the memories Kirk leaves behind. His love, sense of humor, and gentle spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Services will be privately held.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
