Ronald G. VanDerLinden, father, grandfather, friend
WELLSVILLE — Ronald G. VanDerLinden, 85, formerly of Grove Street, Cuba, passed away Sunday (July 19, 2026) at Wellsville Manor Care Center, after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 18, 1941, in Cuba, he was a son of Guy and Elizabeth Whiteman VanDerLinden. On Aug. 26, 1961, in West Clarksville, he married the former Carole M. Bixby, who predeceased him June 1, 2016.
Ron was a graduate of Cuba Central School and Alfred State University, where he received a degree in drafting and graphic design.
He worked for Acme Electric in Cuba where he was the drafting department manager prior to his retirement.
Ron was a member of Obi Community Church. He was an avid bowler and bowled in leagues in Cuba, Belmont, Wellsville and Olean, and also enjoyed gardening, traveling and collecting baseball cards.
He is survived by two sons, Terry (Amy) VanDerLinden of Spencerport and Michael (Lorri) VanDerLinden of Berrysville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Ian, Mieka, Emma, Kate, Seth, Grace and Heidi; one great-grandchild, Sawyer; a brother, Gary (Kim) VanDerLinden of Centerville, Va.; a sister, Sylvia (Jerry) Powell of Dayton, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Sevilla VanDerLinden of Midland, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ray VanDerLinden.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday (July 23, 2026) at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba, at which time a funeral service will begin in the Funeral Home. Rev. David Cook, pastor of Obi Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba.
