She was born Jan. 4, 1951, in Gowanda, the daughter of the late Richard and Loretta Gehrke Frank. Mrs. Malek was married to James Malek Sr., who predeceased her.

She was a registered nurse for over 30 years at JN Adam in Perrysburg, and with WNYDDSO.

She was a Lifetime member of the Springville VFW and was a member of the Springville American Legion, Otto Vol. Fire Dept. Aux. and she also taught Sunday School.

Mrs.Malek is survived by two sons, John (Danelle) Parent Jr. of Cattaraugus and James (Jess) Malek Jr. of Arkport; two daughters,  Jean Long of Jamestown and Jan Parent of Niagara Falls; and eight grandchildren, Jeweleigh, Kayleigh, Skyler, Ethan. Mackenzie, Devin, Brandon and Jayden. Also surviving is a great-granddaughter, Elianna; and a sister, Kathy Frank of Cattaraugus.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Judith VanCise.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion in Springville, or the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Otto.
