RANDOLPH — Sharon Burlingame, of Randolph in recent years, and a former resident of Olean, passed away Friday (June 12, 2026) at Olean General Hospital, at the age of 83.
Sharon was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Olean, and was one of five children born to Charles Knowlton and Loretta Shirey Fie. On Sept. 26, 1970, in Hinsdale, she married Darryl Burlingame, who survives.
She went to high school in Olean and in Hinsdale and worked at several Olean companies including AVX, Olean Tile Plant and the DeSoto Motel. After moving to Randolph, she worked as an aide at The Resource Center in Jamestown until her retirement.
Sharon enjoyed spending her time playing bingo and making trips to the casino, but most of all enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered as always bringing laughter and smiles to everyone. She was known to her children’s friends as “Mom.”
She leaves behind her husband, Darryl of almost 56 years; three daughters, Cheryl See of Olean, Tina (George) See of Hinsdale and Melissa (Tim) Burrows of Portville; one son, Darryl (Carrie) Burlingame Jr. of Russell, Pa.; a son-in-law, Bill See of Hinsdale; grandchildren, Matt (Katie) Burlingame, Brooke (Leonard) Lauricella, Nicholas Burrows, Jordan Burlingame, Joelle Burlingame, Bethanie See, Balynda (Mitch) Erdmann, William See, Mark (Kristin) See, Lisa Cousins, Sharon See, Shawn See, Kayla (Nick Keech) Williams, George See Jr., Catrina (Stephen) Cassidy and Christy Wade; 35 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Smith; a daughter, Betsy See; and four siblings, Areta Newton, Micky Learn, Bill Knowlton and Charles “Shorty” Knowlton.
Per Sharon’s request, there will be no scheduled services. Her family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
