Paula Etha Kio Abrams

BRADFORD, Pa. — Paula Etha Kio Abrams, 69, passed away peacefully Friday (June 12, 2026), surrounded by love.

Born May 6, 1957, in Gowanda, Paula was the daughter of Mary Commino Kio.

She graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1975 and soon after met the love of her life, Calvin Abrams. Their relationship began with a blind date, and they married on June 5, 1976, in Roulette, Pa. Together they shared 50 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, devotion and prayer.

A lifelong learner, Paula dedicated herself to serving others. She earned multiple certifications and accolades throughout her career as a dietary manager and also pursued her passion for helping others as a reflexologist.

Over the years, she worked at Bradford Hospital, Bradford Manor, Sena Kean Manor, Bradford Ecumenical Home and several assisted living communities in Bradenton, Fla. Her compassion, knowledge, and dedication left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

Paula lived a life centered on service, generosity, and learning. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bradford and found great joy in volunteering and supporting charitable causes. She had a special love for dogs and never passed up an opportunity to spoil a furry friend.

Known for her vibrant personality, Paula was truly one of a kind. She loved to sing, dance, make up her own words and expressions and keep those around her laughing. Her nieces especially treasured her playful spirit and the unforgettable off-the-wall comments she taught them to say. She delighted in gift-giving, hosting family gatherings, playing card games, watching sports, particularly New York Giants football, and, most of all, spending time with her family and grandsons.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Abrams; her daughter, Brand (Alicia); her grandsons, Jeor and Tate; her son, Eric (Katie); her beloved dog, Miley; her brother-in-law, Dick; and her cherished nieces, Theresa (Will), McKaila (Drake) and Malea (Dane); along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Paula was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kio; her beloved grandson, Luca Abrams; her brothers and brothers-in-law, Larry, Clarence, Bob and Elmer; and her sister and sisters-in-law: Jeanette, Lois, Gladys, Sally, Nancy and Betty.

Paula’s life was a testament to kindness, service, generosity and joy. Her laughter, love, and unique spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. On Earth, she toiled; in Heaven, she rests. Love you, bye.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (June 18, 2026) at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean, N.Y. An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday (June 19, 2026) at Grace Lutheran Church, 79 Mechanic St., Bradford. A funeral service will follow immediately at 11 a.m.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to Grace Lutheran Church; Teacher’s Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Lane, Coudersport PA; the Alzheimer Association; or by doing an act of charity or service in honor of Paula.
