Daniel H. Long, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend

NEW HUDSON — Daniel H. Long, 46, of New Hudson, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (June 9, 2026).

Born March 5, 1980, in Lewiston, he was the son of Harry W. and Catherine L. Shaver Long.

Dan was a graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School and Alfred State College, where he received a bachelor’s degree in construction technology.

After graduating from college, Dan founded his own construction business, Daniel Long Enterprises, which he successfully operated until his passing.

Throughout his life, Dan found great joy in the outdoors and in traveling. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler. Later, he cherished summers spent boating on Cuba Lake, relaxing in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and escaping to the warmth of Florida during the winter months. No matter where he was, Dan valued time spent with friends and never missed an opportunity for good conversation and companionship.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, infectious sense of humor and remarkable generosity. Dan loved making people laugh and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his father, Harry W. Long of New Hudson; a sister, Nancy (Sergio) Cruz of Hamburg; a nephew, Mateo; a niece, Gianna; and many close cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine, in February of 2016.

The family will receive friends and family from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., Bull Street, Cuba,  .
