Sophia Skye LaBorde, “Warrior Princess”

OLEAN — Sophia Skye LaBorde, of Bell Street, went home to be with the Lord on Monday (June 8, 2026) at home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous four-year battle with a rare liver cancer.

Sophia was born Jan. 27, 2010, in Bradford, Pa., and was the daughter of Derrick P. and Alicia R. LaBorde.

Sophia attended Olean High School and was an AVID Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan. She enjoyed attending games as much and as often as she could.

Sophia loved fashion and was always up with the current trends. She had always dreamed of traveling the world. Most of all, Sophia loved her family and friends dearly; they meant the world to her.

Sophia was a true child of God. She loved Him and spoke with Him often. When she received her diagnosis, she truly believed that one of her main purposes on this earth was to help bring others to God. She maintained her faith through it all, and told anyone and everyone about Him and His love. She was a proud member of Eldred First Church of God. One of her proudest moments was when she was baptized on May 18, 2025. She loved Him, and now she gets to spend eternity with Him.

Sophia is survived by her loving parents, Derrick and Alicia LaBorde; maternal grandmother, Sharon Berg-Hodgdon; paternal grandmother, Rebecca LaBorde; paternal grandfather, Charles (Pamela Spink) LaBorde; paternal great-grandfather, Paul Beaver; and paternal great-grandmother, Marilyn Spink. She leaves behind six uncles, Brandon (Sierra Bullers) LaBorde, Andrew (Bethany MacNeill) LaBorde, Jeff Hodgdon and Brian Hodgdon, Michael Salmonson and Giovanni Salmonson; four aunts, Nikia Hodgdon, Brianna Hodgdon, Brooke (Gary) Blackmon-Fusco and Anastasia (Brenden Scott) Spink; five cousins, Jacoby, Aubrey, Evan, Elijah and Cameron; special cousins, Kayden, Lilly, and Presley; her best friend, Chloe; close friends, Kya, Sydney and Victoria; and her beloved dog, Finn.

Sophia was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Robert Hodgdon; maternal great-grandparents, Doris and Carl Berg Jr.; paternal great-grandmother, Shelvy Beaver; and paternal great-grandparents, Robert and Catherine LaBorde Sr.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (June 12, 2026) and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday (June 13, 2026) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State St., Olean, at which time a funeral service will be held. Pastor Jim Kazimer of the Eldred First Church of God will officiate. After the funeral service, burial will be in Allegany Cemetery, where the family welcomes and encourages all to attend. Following the burial, a Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Robert H. Livingston Community Center, 188 W. Main St., Allegany.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Courage of Carly Fund, Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, P.O Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240.
