Richard L. ‘Rich’ Morris, loving dad and Papa
OLEAN — Richard L. Morris, of South Barry Street, passed away Monday (June 1, 2026).
Rich was born Sept. 11, 1946, in Washington, D.C., and was the son of Charles and Mary Riely Morris. On May 15, 1993, in Olean, he married Bonnie J. LaRue, who predeceased him exactly five months ago on Jan. 1, 2026.
Rich was a grocery manager at Reids Food Barn for 35 years. After retirement he attended Total Senior Care.
He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Rich was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed golfing, going to the casino, playing poker and cards, and riding his lawn mower. Rich always had a Pepsi in his hand.
Rich is survived by four children, Mindy (Harold) Murphy of Olean, Danielle S. (Jesse) Minges of Olean, Stephanie L. Vanderhoef of Hinsdale and Kim J. (Jeff) Cook of Olean; nine grandchildren, Tavien (Ryleigh) Kemp, Latrell Kemp, Kailyn Vanderhoef, Hannah Vanderhoef, Brayden Cook, Blake Cook, Ashley (David) Murphy, Dekotha (Shawn) Williams and Makenna (Will) Murphy; six great-grandchildren, Ghiabella Kemp, Kohen Kemp, Harper Murphy, Kindra Murphy, Ryder Murphy and Conan Williams; and his best friend, Chuck Miller of Olean.
Along with his loving wife Bonnie, Rich was predeceased by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (June 6, 2026) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
