ALLEGANY — Marion E. Gabler, formerly of Karl Road, passed away at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Olean Monday (June 1, 2026), exactly 16 years after her husband.

Marion was born May 3, 1928, to Harry LeRoy and Maude Evelyn Mantz Vreeland at home, on the family farm in Humphrey.

She grew up on the farm and went to a one-room country school and graduated from Allegany High School.

Marion met her husband, Frederick A. Gabler Jr. at WT Grant Store in Olean, where they were both employed. They were married at the Five Mile Baptist on June 10, 1950. They built their home on Karl Road and lived there from 1954 to 2025.

In years past Marion was very active in the work at the Five Mile Baptist Church, teaching both Children’s Church and Sunday School. FMBC was her church since birth. She was also a Joy Club teacher.

Marion took classes at the Olean Business Institute (OBI). She had volunteered at Olean General Hospital for over 15 years.

Marion is survived by two sons, Thomas (Denise) Gabler of Allegany and Terrance (Cynthia) Gabler of Latham; a daughter-in-law, Sue Ellen Gabler of Bedford, Ohio; six grandchildren, David (Melissa) Gabler of Norton, Ohio, Kristen (Ryan) Dea of Stow, Ohio, Kyle (Abby) Gabler of Allegany, Kolby (Judith) Gabler of Voorheesville, Jonathan Gabler of Latham and Matthew Gabler of Latham; and 15 great grandchildren, Chloe, Leyton, Noah, Josiah, Amelia, Samantha, Ezra, Charlotte, Hazel, Judgement, Addison, Kohen, Owen, Ethan and Evelyn.

Along with her loving husband, Frederick who predeceased her June 1, 2010, Marion was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Ryan Scott Gabler on Aug. 31, 2018; a son, Timothy L. Gabler on May 18, 2021; three brothers, Robert (Freda) Vreeland, Arthur Vreeland and Stanley (Pauline) Vreeland: and two sisters, Helen (Vernon) Button and Doris Vreeland.

At her request there will be no services. Burial will be in the Five Mile Cemetery on Church Road, Allegany, next to her husband.

Memorials may be made to the Five Mile Baptist Church, 3624 Five Mile Road, Allegany, NY 14706; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
