Valerie G. ‘Beanie’ Brundage

SALAMANCA — Valerie G. “Beanie” Brundage, 79, left this Earth on Tuesday (May 19, 2026), at Olean General Hospital, with her family by her side.

Born June 29, 1946, in Salamanca, she was a daughter of the late James D. and Genevieve A. Chamberlain Griffith.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1964.

She was married July 23, 1966, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church to James M. Brundage, who predeceased her Oct. 1, 2010.

Beanie was a faithful communicant of the former St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Guild and Choir, serving for many years in those capacities. She enjoyed going out to eat with family, New York Yankees baseball, the Buffalo Bills football and watching her grandchildren’s sporting and academic careers. She was especially proud of her four grandchildren, and that all four were the valedictorian of their graduating classes at Salamanca High School.

She is survived by one son, Steven (Sandra) Brundage of Salamanca; two daughters, Susan (Darryn) Fiske and Shelley (Greg) Herrick, both of Salamanca; two granddaughters, Emma (Dylan Wheeler) Fiske and Alicia Fiske, both of Salamanca; two grandsons, Andrew Herrick and Jacob Herrick, both of Salamanca; three sisters, Dona Clark of Dothan, Ala., Patricia (Ron Simmons) Cragg of Webster and Lynn (Brad) Harrington of Salamanca; three brothers, James Griffith of Salamanca, Michael (Karen) Griffith of Olean and Daniel Griffith of Salamanca; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Kenneth N. Clark and George Cragg; a nephew, Kenneth G. Clark; and a niece, Kelly Witter.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (May 21, 2026) at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca. An Episcopal Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday (May 22, 2026) at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 274 Broad St., with Rev. Rebecca Harris officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
