Charles N. ‘Chuck’ Huber, loving father and grandfather
WAPAKONETA, Ohio — Charles N. Huber, of Carnation Drive, passed away Tuesday (May 19, 2026) at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital.
Chuck was born May 12, 1941, in Olean, and was the son of Harry H. and Mary A. Boza Huber. On July 4, 1964, in Detroit, Mich., he married Mary A. Dunleavy, who predeceased him Dec. 10, 2013.
Chuck was a 1959 graduate of Olean High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 to 1964. Chuck worked at General Dynamics for 30 years retiring in 1995.
Chuck attended St. Mary’s in Olean and St. Josephs in Wapakoneta. He belonged to the Wapakoneta American Legion and VFW.
Chuck enjoyed crossword puzzles, western movies, camping, shooting pool, golfing and fishing.
Chuck is survived by his daughter, Cheryl R. Griffis; two grandchildren, Charles D. “CJ” Griffis and Megan E. Griffis; a sister-in-law, Colleen (Richard) Bekemeir, all of Ohio; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Along with his loving wife Mary, Chuck was predeceased by his parents; son-in-law, Steve Griffis; two sisters, Laura Hilliard and June Sherwood; and a brother-in-law, Charles Dunleavy.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, Olean. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Intandem, 1439 Buffalo St., Olean, NY 14760; of the Olean Interfaith Care Givers Loan Closet, 242 N. Union St., Olean, NY 14760.
