SMETHPORT, Pa. — Harry E. Rounsville, 79, of Smethport, passed away Wednesday (May 13, 2026) at his home in Smethport.

He was born Oct. 26, 1946 in Bradford, the son of Willard and Nellie Snyder Rounsville.

After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and served from 1964 to 1984.

On Oct. 3, 1969, he married Sandra K. Pierce. After their divorce, he married Carrie (Isaman, Catalano, Sheffer) on March 20, 1990, who survives.

After the army, he worked for Valu Home Center for 10 years, then Quaker Mill Works in Orchard Park, N.Y. After moving back to Pennsylvania, he worked for Smethport Specialty in Smethport, then for Superior Well Services in Bradford, where he retired.

Harry liked fishing and running his tractor and skid-steer. He served as vice-president of BCYC. He was also a foster parent from 2007 to 2012. During this time, he opened his home to many children of which some stayed a day and some years.

Surviving besides his wife, Carrie, are seven children, Willard Rounsville, Sandra Schermerhorn, Brian Rounsville, Jeremiah Rounsville, Desirae Rounsville, Drake Rounsville and Kaiden Rounsville; three stepchildren, Cassey (Cory) Hartzell, Jessie (Mike) Wood and Lynn (Jim) Case; along with two girls with SPLC, Amber and Crystal Jones; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Wendy) Rounsville and Greg (Lori) Rounsville; one sister, Barbara Yeany; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by a son, Harry Rounsville Jr.; a son-in-law, Robert Schermerhorn; a brother-in-law, George “Butch” Yeany; a sister-in-law, Wyvonn Rounsville; and one step-grandson, Dustin Schermerhorn.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday (May 17, 2026) at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Max Simms officiating. Burial will be in Clermont Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Smethport Honor Guard.
