John Peter Bleistein
He was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Perry, a son of the late Leonard Joseph and Viola Emma Tucker Bleistein. On March 3, 1951, he married his wife, June Bleistein, in Sardinia. She predeceased him July 3, 1994.
John was a graduate of Fillmore High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1950.
John worked as a skilled tool and die maker for Motorola in Arcade and later for Fisher-Price in Holland.
He was a lifetime member of the Arcade VFW, a 50-year member of the Arcade American Legion and a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church. John was also active in his community as a member of the Arcade Kiwanis, the Arcade Fire Department Exempt and the Springville Country Club, where he was a member for 30 years.
John especially loved golfing and cherished the many friendships he built on the course.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Dale) Tingue of Delevan; his grandchildren, Brett (Tracy) Tingue of Arcade, David (Sonya) Tingue of Delevan and Amber (Brandon) Fincher of Akron, Colo.; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Anna, Luke, Payton, Sophie, Mackenzie and Landyn. He is also survived by his loving companion, Virginia “Ginny” Babbitt of Honeoye Falls; along with her children, Garry Babbitt and Gail Larkin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his son, David (Bonnie) Bleistein; and his brother, Leland Bleistein.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday (May 11, 2026) at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at Siloam Cemetery in Freedom.
