Roy E. ‘Royboy’ Knier Jr., loving father and grandfather

GOWANDA — Roy E. Knier Jr., of Gowanda Nursing Home, passed away Sunday (April 12, 2026).

Roy was born April 2, 1963, in Martinez, Calif., and was the son of Roy E. and Wanda J. Fisher Knier Sr.

Roy enjoyed traveling and following the Grateful Dead band, playing pool, camping, and fishing. He will be remembered as a social butterfly. Roy would help or stick up for anyone and would give the shirt off his back to do so.

Most of all, Roy loved his daughter and grandson who were the apple of his eye and loved to spend time with them.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Cassidy R. Knier; her mother, Serie M. (Tracy) Cole of Olean; his grandson, Hawkslee; three siblings, Beth (Gregg) Knier of Pennslyvania., Michelle (Charlie) Goff of Florida and Troy (Emily) Frank of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

Roy was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Keith Knier.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday (April 17, 2026) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean, at which time a funeral service will be held. The Rev. Chuck Maine, pastor of Epic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery at a later date.
