Robert ‘Doc’ Moore
CRESTVIEW, Fla. — Robert “Doc” Moore, formerly of Olean, N.Y., passed away at the age of 68 on March 31, 2026, while in hospice care, after a lengthy battle with multiple forms of cancer.
The youngest son of Thomas and Mary Stebick Moore, Robert (who was known as Doc for virtually his whole life) was born in Olean on Feb. 16, 1958.
He attended Olean Schools, graduating from Olean High School in the bi-centennial year of 1976. During his adolescent years, especially while in high school, he was known by many for his athletic ability while playing sports, especially baseball and football. He later played in the Olean area men’s softball league, as well as enjoying an occasional round of golf.
During his working years Doc was employed locally by American Olean Tile Company and First Class Roofing. Taking a break from Olean life, he spent some time in Arizona building and repairing furniture before heading to Florida to work on golf courses, eventually returning to Olean.
In May of 2002 Doc married Kathy Welch Moore. Later in 2024 Doc and Kathy relocated to Crestview.
Doc is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Matthew of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Abby Bailey; brother, Joe (Marge) Moore of Miamisburg, Ohio; sister, Cindy (John) Mikowicz of Olean; sister-in-law, Kathy Moore of Olean; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Bill Moore.
A celebration of life will occur at a future date.
