Richard Alan Chiapuso, loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend
OLEAN — Rick Chiapuso passed away Monday (March 30, 2026) at home, of heart failure.
Rick was born Feb. 10, 1958, at St Francis Hospital in Olean, the son of the late John Chiapuso and Donna App.
He is a 1976 graduate of Allegany Central School.
He went on to work for McGraw Edison and Lotter & Lotter Fencing. He found his calling, though, as a skilled painter when he went to work for the “Bossman” Mike John at MJ Painting. He retired from MJP in 2024 after 25 years.
He enjoyed spending a great deal of time with his granddaughters. He loved to watch them play sports and ride their horses. There was no one he was more proud of.
He had a fierce love/hate relationship with the Buffalo Bills and always joked that he would not see them win a Super Bowl in his lifetime. He loved being around his family and friends and helping everyone in any way that he could. You could usually find him at 7-Eleven or Tim Ho’s, enjoying a coffee.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Yvonne (Matt) Rogers; son, Matt Chiapuso; granddaughters, Kendyl and Peyton Rogers; his brother and best friend, Greg Chiapuso; brother, Steve Chiapuso; sister, Cindy (Joel) Reed; nephews, Chris (Sydney) Chiapuso and Mike (Sonya) Chiapuso; two great-nieces, Molly and Heidi; two great-nephews, Christopher and Asher; and good friends, Chris Clark and Dan Evans.
Per Rick’s wishes, there will be no services.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to CCE of Cattaraugus 4-H Horse Program, 28 Parkside Drive, Ellicottville, NY 14731.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
