Janice M. Warner, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother
BELFAST — Janice Mae Warner, of Belfast, passed away at the Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center of Olean, with loving family by her side, after a long illness, battling Alzheimer’s.
Janice was born in Olean at St. Francis Hospital on Jan. 28, 1943, the daughter of the late Walter and Grace O’Brien Austin. On Nov. 18, 1963, in Winchester, Va., she married her true love, Harold Warner, who predeceased her.
A 1961 graduate of Portville Central School, she went on to work at the Tile Plant and the Manor Nursing Home and was a home health aide; she retired from Cuba Memorial Hospital.
She loved to watch her teams, the Buffalo Bills, the Sabres and Cubs baseball. She also enjoyed watching Christmas movies, listening to Willie Nelson, reading and going for walks with her family.
Janice is survived by her children, Dawn (Raymond) VanTuil of Olean, Jeffrey Warner of Belfast, Richard (Theresa) Warner of Allegany and Joyce (Wally) Patterson of Belfast; her eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three sisters, Wini Watson, Betty Warner and Beverly Austin.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Harold; her parents, Walter and Grace Austin; and three siblings, Robert Austin, Walter Austin and Judy Mothes.
Family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville, with a memorial service starting at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
