FILLMORE  — Carol Klein, of Fillmore, passed away peacefully Wednesday (March 25, 2026) in The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Machias.

She was born Feb. 21, 1939, in Hornell, a daughter of the late Floyd and Emily Lockwood Mehlenbacher. On Sept. 28, 1957, she married the love of her life, Karl Klein, and together they built a life centered on family, kindness, and shared joy.

Carol was a graduate of Angelica High School and afterward become employed at Motorola, working diligently in both Arcade and Elma.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Carol’s true joy was found in the simple, heartfelt connections she nurtured with those around her.

Alongside her devoted husband Karl, Carol cherished their winters in St. Petersburg, Fla. These months were filled with laughter, relaxation and the forging of deep friendships, adding chapters to a shared tapestry of joyful memories that brought light and happiness to their lives.

Faith was a cornerstone of Carol’s enduring spirit. She was a faithful member of both Angelica Methodist Church and Fillmore Wesleyan Church. Within these communities, she found not only spiritual solace but also a network of enduring friendships that sustained her strength and comfort throughout her life’s journey.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend — a gentle, steady presence whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

Surviving in addition to her devoted husband, Karl, is a son, Rick (Brenda) Klein of Fillmore; and her daughters, Debbie Beardsley (Dana Arnold) of Canadea and Patti Klein (Jim Haggerty) of Freedom. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Melissa (Josh) Therrien, Jennifer (Richard) Pangborn, Brian (Ashley) Klein, and Tasha (Doug) Monagle; and a cherished great-grandmother to Owen, Elli, Jack, Logan and Hadley.

Carol was predeceased by her parents; and her three brothers, Robert, William and Kenneth Mehlenbacher.
