CUBA — Betty R. Manning-Gehris, 93, of Cuba, passed away Monday (March 23, 2026) at Cuba Memorial Hospitals Palliative Care Unit, after a lengthy illness.
Born June 25, 1932, in Cuba, she was a daughter of Henry and Mary Clark Manning. On June 26, 1976, she married Thomas Gehris, who predeceased her.
Betty was a graduate of Cuba Central Schools, Class of 1950.
She had worked at Grants Department Store in Allegany as a sales associate for many years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church.
She enjoyed going to the library, loved reading, refinishing antiques, painting, crocheting, crafting, quilting, walking and reupholstering furniture.
She is survived by a son, Larry Green of Warsaw; a daughter, John (Diane) Wilson of Cuba, two grandchildren, Janell Wilson of Galatin, Tenn. and Jennifer Wilson of Cuba; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Jacob, Delaney, Samantha and Russell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Earl Manning; and three sisters, Ruth Major, Mae Treusdell and Laura Gordon.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Monday (March 30, 2026) at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull St. Cuba, at which time a funeral service will begin in the funeral home. Pastor Claudia Little will officiate. Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson.
