Ronald Francis Munday

DUKE CENTER, Pa. — Ronald Francis Munday, 72, of Duke Center, passed away Friday (March 13, 2026) at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital.

 Born Aug. 25,1954, in Olean, he was the son of the late Jerold and Joyce Munday.

Ron spent his early years in Limestone, N.Y., and was an attendee of Limestone Union Free High School.

Once out of school, Ron worked as a supervisor for Case Cutlery in Bradford, before he dedicated over 35 years at Cutco Knife Factory in Olean. He retired in 2019.

In June of 1997, Ron and Rhonda began their journey together on Summer Street in Bradford, where they raised their boys John and Brian, and spent countless hours with their five grandchildren. In 2009, Ron and Rhonda relocated to Duke Center, where they retired together and continued to live a quiet and happy life.

Music was one of Ron’s greatest passions. He was a talented musician and played in several bands over the years. Starting as a drummer, he would eventually learn various instruments including bass, lead and rhythm guitars. His love for music was a shared bond with his stepson John. They spent countless hours playing and recording music together over the years.

Ron was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. Often using his sarcastictrademark catch phrases such as ‘What did you just say?” “And then you woke up,” “Because the chief said so,” and the classic “I’ll part your hair with an axe!” When joking with his wife, he would often refer to her as ‘the old hen’.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Rhonda (Gross) Munday; two sons, Brian Munday and John (Leah) Lockwood; one stepson, Scott (Lisa) Lockwood; five grandchildren, Darci, Scottie, Janelle, Holly and Krista Lockwood; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and two brothers, Jerry Munday and Mark Munday.

Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday (March 18, 2026) in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Ave. At 1 p.m. funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Steamburg Cemetery in Randolph N.Y.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Otto Township Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
