BRADENTON, Fla. — Karen Louise Cornelius Brennan Walterich, born Nov. 28,1945, passed away Monday (March 2, 2026) after a long illness, at Blake Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.

Karen was the daughter of Frederick and Esther Cornelius. She was the oldest of four children.

She was a graduate of Alfred-Almond School. She also attended Olean (N.Y.) Business Institute.

It was at this time she met and married John Stephen Brennan. Together they had three daughters, Katrina (Mark Campbell) Latten, Kimberly (Paul) Lampack and Kristine (Mark) Kellner.

Karen worked in the food service industry for several years before becoming employed at United Parcel Service as a preload supervisor.

Later she married James Walterich of Portville, N.Y.

In 1989, Karen moved to Bradenton, where she was employed by Trailmate Tricycles.

Karen lived her life to her fullest enjoying the Florida sunshine and spending time with friends. Karen enjoyed her last days spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

She leaves behind two brothers, Daryl Cornelius and Bradley (Tammy) Cornelius; her three daughters; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a special companion, Randy Silcox.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Michael Cornelius; and son-in- law, Patrick Latten.

There will be no visitation or services at Karen’s request.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Shannon Funeral Home.
