Perfection of the perfect one

All the faithful praise God, but what is missing is declaring His perfection by our hearts, minds, and tongues.

God has made human beings in His own image. But, this does not mean that God looks like a giant human being with a halo of light. There is nothing like Him. He is beyond our imagination. Rather, being created in His image means that we reflect His certain qualities in a limited and dependent way. God’s attributes remain absolute and flawless. He made human beings temporarily in charge of this planet to test our actions.

We share certain qualities of God, but they are not the same.

For example, God can see and hear, and we can see and hear. But our hearing and vision are granted by God; they have limitations. We can only hear certain frequencies and decibels. We can only see a certain distance and cannot see past the wall. Our vision and hearing deteriorate over time. We cannot compare our vision and hearing to His ever-existing, limitless, flawless vision and hearing, which transcends even time. He can see the past and future better than we can see right in front of us.

I was once encountered by a gentleman who questioned my hijab. “In our religion, we don’t cover our heads because we love God and we want God to see us.”

But can anything limit God’s power and capabilities? Can any cloth, wall, or darkness conceal us from the one who created sight itself?

All of our powers and talents have a beginning and an end. We cannot see the other side of life or other dimensions—the Unseen. But God not only can see, but also owns it and has absolute control over everything for all of time.

A common question arises: Why do bad things happen when He is in full control? Don’t let your mind steer you in the wrong direction. “And the person, how balanced He fashioned him, then He inspired him to discriminate good and bad. So he attains success who purifies himself to let the good grow, and doomed is the one who crushes the innate criterion.” Quran 91: 7-10.

God has instilled the potential for good in every one of us. If we let it go to waste and allow evil to flourish, it is our fault, and we will be held accountable at a specified promised time. He just lets it happen in His grand scheme of plans because life is nothing but a test.

God is the ultimate owner of all the kingdoms and kings. Human power and authority rise and diminish. Entire empires fall. But God’s absolute sovereignty over everything is unwavering.

God is also Omniscient. He has complete knowledge of everything. He knows our thoughts, intentions, and even our subconscious desires, which we ourselves are sometimes unaware of. “And whether you announce it or keep it secret, He knows it all that is hidden in the chests.

Doesn’t he know who He created? He is so subtle, All Aware” Quran: 67:13-14.

The most repeated quality of God in the Quran is Ar-Rahman, which means extremely loving and caring. And that is the quality He wants reflected most in us. Love and compassion for others will bring us closer to our Master and attain His pleasure.
