OLEAN — Jimmie Carlson, of Olean-Portville Road, formerly of South 18th Street, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2026) at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmie was born March 26, 1937, in Olean, and was the son of Carl John and Esther Pettis Carlson. He was formerly married to Cathleen Burns Todd.
Jimmie was a 1955 graduate of Olean High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Sept. 12, 1955 to Sept. 11, 1959.
Jimmie then worked at ALCAS for 38 years starting in 1961 and retiring in 2000.
Jimmie enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, socializing and especially loved spending time with his South 18th Street neighbors.
Jimmie is survived by three children, Dawn Marie (William “Woody”) Woodruff of Eureka, Calif., Lisa Jo Carlson of Oneida and Andrew J. (Anne) Carlson of Olean; six grandchildren, Tiffany Woodruff, Charles Watkins, Christina (Steven) Espinal, Katie (Alex) Webster, Ashley (Colt) Lowe and Amanda (Curt) Rowan; nine great-grandchildren, Kahlan Webster, Ryleigh Webster, Liam Webster, Autumn Espinal, Elara Espinal, Harper Lowe, Hayden Lowe, Hallie Lowe and Raelynn Rowan; many nieces and nephews; and extended Barr Family.
Jimmie was predeceased by his parents; a grandson, David Woodruff; granddaughter, Moriah Woodruff; and four siblings, LaVern Carlson, Carl Carlson, Ann Judge and Jane Bailey.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 28, 2026) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., at which time a funeral service will be held with full military honors accorded Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 Ritual Team. The Rev. Kim E. Rossi will officiate.
