David J. Carrier, husband, brother and uncle
WEST VALLEY — David J. Carrier, 66, of West Valley, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2026).
Born May 5, 1959, in Olean, he was a son of the late Joseph V. and Betty J. Frost Carrier. On Oct. 20, 1984, in Webster, he married the former Katy J. Kenyon, who survives.
David graduated from Cuba Central School in 1977, Alfred State College in 1979 with a degree in electronics/instrumentation, and Monroe Community College with a degree in applied sciences.
In 1983, he was hired by Cuba Cheese to work in their maintenance department, but a year later went to work for Taylor Instrumentation, prior to starting his own business, Carrier Controls, which he ran with his wife Katy until he retired two years ago.
Dave was an avid hunter and motorcyclist and loved spending as much time as he could outdoors. He attended the North Park Wesleyan Church in Cuba.
In addition to his wife Katy, he is survived by a brother, Daniel (Rhonda) Carrier of Cuba; a sister, Diane (Donald) Watkins of Franklinville; his nieces, Danae and Reanna Carrier and Dara (Shawn) McFadden; a nephew, Devin (Mandi) Watkins; a close cousin, Christopher Carrier; several other cousins; an uncle, Howard (Sharon) Carrier; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a brother-in-law, Derwood (Rita) Say of Cuba; and a sister-in-law, Caryl (John) Vaklyes of Pennsylvania.
Graveside services at Cuba Cemetery will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
