ALLEGANY — It is with deep sadness that the family of Patricia Smith, affectionately known as “Pat,” announces her sudden passing on Sunday (Feb. 15, 2026) at Olean General Hospital.
She was born July 12, 1937, in Portville, to the late Clifford and Dorothy Taft Blakeslee.
Pat worked for a number of years for various retail department stores, including the former BonTon Store as well as J. C. Penny Co..
Known for her kindness to and compassion for others, she was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olean for over six decades.
She is survived by her husband, Philip Smith, to whom she was married 70 years; one son, Jeff (Maryann) Smith; one daughter, Cathy McConnaughey; four grandchildren, Thomas (Bea) Smith, Emily (Nick) Pereira, Mallory (Jared) Battistoni and Nicholas McConnaughy; three great-grandchildren, Nadia, Benjamin and Cecilia; one sister, Sherry (Bill) Connor; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Beverly Talbott and Kathy McGonnell; one brother, Amos Blakeslee; and one grandson, Joshua Smith.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church in Olean and will be announced. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
