Donald L. Shaner, loving husband, father and grandfather

BOLIVAR — Donald L. Shaner, 89, of Bolivar, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at Strong Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 23, 1936, in Olean, he was a son Melvin Lee and Isabelle Richardson Shaner.  On Sept. 20, 1958, in the Union Presbyterian Church in Newburgh, he married his wife of 67 years, the former Marian Greeley, who survives.

Don was a graduate of Bolivar Central Schools, Class of 1955.

On July 5, 1955 he went to work at Kodak in Rochester for 36 years. He then returned to Bolivar and worked for the school as a janitor for another 20 years.

At home he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and reading.

In addition to his wife, Marian, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly Shaner of Wellsville; eight grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Miller of Brockport and Joanne Cordner of Bradford, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Keith Shaner and Kurt Shaner; and a daughter, Kathy Kunisch.

At his request there will be no services.
