Arnold M. Sherlock

NUNDA — Arnold M. Sherlock Jr., of 9361 Route 408, passed away Sunday (Feb. 8, 2026) at the age of 85, at his home.

He was born March 3, 1940, a son of the late Arnold and Evelyn Allen Sherlock Sr. On March 3, 1962, he married Gail Dunham, who survives

He was an avid auto racing enthusiast, often participating in V8 Class events on the old Short Tract and Birdsall raceways. He found peace and happiness in nature, whether it was mowing his lawn with his trusty John Deere tractor, fishing or spending time deer hunting. His love for classic cars was embodied in his favorite, a 1953 Chevy Bel Air.

Arnold was a dedicated carpenter, working with the family business, Sherlock & Sons, located in Mt. Morris.

Surviving in addition to beloved wife are two sons, Arnold M. Sherlock III of Nunda and Jeffrey Sherlock of Portageville; along with 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was also a brother to Margaret Bennion and Cora (Raymond) Cassidy, both of Nunda; and a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Tallman; a son, Paul Sherlock; a granddaughter, Ashley Sherlock; a brother, Alan Sherlock; and sisters, Janet Wagner and Lollie Gordon.

Family and friends may gather from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore. A graveside service will be held at later date and will be announced. Burial will be in Short Tract Cemetery, Short Tract.
