Jessie L. Sprague, loving mother, grandmother and sister

BELFAST — Jessie L. Sprague, of Ramsey Road, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2026) at Olean General Hospital, following an illness.

Jessie was born March 25, 1949, in Margaretville, the daughter of George and Doris Cowan Sanford. On Sept. 2, 1972, in DeRuyter, she married Ronald W. Sprague, who predeceased her April 27, 2024.

Jessie became a foster parent to eight of her children, which led her to dedicate her life to helping keep families whole.

She worked for Allegany County for 22 years as a substance abuse counselor where she loved her job.

Jessie enjoyed quilting and bowling.

Jessie is survived by her nine children, Erin (Doug) Parsley, Scot (Kim Duquette) Sokolowski-Sprague, Heather (Jim Rinderle) Balcom, Tracy Sprague, Ethan (April Murphy) Sprague, Dustin (Bri) Sprague, Jessica Sprague, Michael (Anndrea Burgess) Sprague and Steven Sprague; 16 grandchildren; and her siblings, Ted (Sue) Sanford and Rosalie (Jim) Bentley.

Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Ronald; her parents; a son, Ryan; and her sister, Sally Angel.

Services will be privately held at a later date.
