ANGELICA — Edward Paul Harrington, 86, of Angelica, entered into rest following a brief illness on Monday (Feb. 2, 2026) surrounded by his family at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Born in Caneadea on July 2, 1939, to the late Edward Harrington and Lorma VanBuskirk Harrington, Paul grew up for the greater part of his life in the Belfast/Angelica area, where he was a graduating member of the Class of 1957 at Angelica Central. On Aug. 27, 1960, he married the former Janet Tucker, who survives.

During his lifetime Paul was employed by the Long family broom factory in Angelica, as a heavy equipment operator for the Grove Construction Company, and the CE Air Preheater (Alstom) Company where he retired after 42 years as an engineer for thermal systems.

For several years after retirement, he travelled for Alstom via contract as a technical advisor of heat recovery services until 2018.

In the early 1960s Paul raced his beloved #33 Miss Jackie Ann race car at the Angelica Fairgrounds racetrack, which formed his true passion for dirt track racing. He attended numerous races and tracks through the years with his son, Paul.

He enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with his family every summer for many years in Canada, where he spent a great amount of time fishing. He also enjoyed his days deer hunting in West Almond with the Day Hunting camp crew.

In his later years as an avid and lifelong sports enthusiast, he loved rooting for the Angelica Red Raiders and later the Genesee Valley Jaguars high school sports teams. During all these involvements Paul created many fond memories and relationships. He will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, Janet, Paul is survived by his two children, daughter, Jacquelyn (Mark) Bainbridge of West Almond and son, Paul (Donna) Harrington of Tonawanda; seven grandchildren, Larissa (Micah) Brady, Aaron (Danielle) Bainbridge, Brooke Bainbridge, Colin (Kolby) Bainbridge, Edward Harrington, Philip Harrington and Gabrielle Harrington; five great-grandchildren, Reagan, Kinsley, Mason, Kennedy and Gracelyn; one brother, John Harrington; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Warner, Daryl Tucker, Nancy Tucker and Sylvia Tucker; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Paul was predeceased by his brother, Richard Harrington; brothers-in-law, Larry Tucker, Bruce Tucker, Alfred Tucker and Richard Warner; and sisters-in-law, Patsy Harrington and Nancy Harrington.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 7, 2026) at the Brown and Powers Funeral Home in Angelica, with funeral services immediately following at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made toward a scholarship to be established in Paul’s name to support a Genesee Valley graduating senior student athlete. Details regarding the scholarship will be shared once finalized.
