Barbara M. Deming, mother and grandmother

CUBA — Barbara M. Deming, 88, of Cuba, passed away Monday (Feb. 2, 2026) at The Pines Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility, Olean, after a short illness.

Born Jan. 9, 1938, in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of Stephen L. and Ethel Sims Marchbanks. On April 6, 1956, in Pickens, S.C., she married Bruce A. Deming, who predeceased her March 21, 1999.

She was a graduate of Greenville High School.

Barb started the ACME Federal Credit Union in Cuba. From 1970-2014 she was co-owner of Deming Electroplating in Cuba. After retirement she was the town supervisor for the Town of Cuba for several years.

She enjoyed going to the casino, playing the lotto and collecting ladybugs.

Barb is survived by her two sons, Bruce Deming and Michael Deming, both of Cuba; 23 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Marchbanks of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents are husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Joni Deming; and her brothers Angus, Bruce and Paul Marchbanks.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday (Feb. 6, 2026) at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba, with a funeral service beginning at noon in the funeral home.  Rev. Luke Granger, pastor of Cuba First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson.
