OLEAN — Carol Klampt Thierman passed away Tuesday (Jan. 27, 2026) at The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean.
Born March 7, 1941, Carol was the daughter of Richmond and Marion Hall Klampt. On Feb. 28, 1960, in Allegany, she married Donald L. Thierman Sr., who predeceased her June 13, 2025.
She attended Olean High School and spent her life giving back to the community she loved.
She was a devoted member of the South Side Union Chapel.
For many years, Carol was known for making beautiful wedding, birthday and graduation cakes for countless families and also made pies for a local restaurant in Portville.
She was a past member of the Allegany and Weston Mills fire departments and proudly served as past president of the Weston Mills Auxiliary. Carol knitted and crocheted baby hats for Roswell Park and Olean General Hospital for many years.
She was a member of the Classic Car Club, the Allegheny River Valley Aquarium Society and a dedicated member of the Red Hat Society of Olean, where she enjoyed much friendship and laughter.
Carol was very creative and loved to decorate for every holiday. She was a diehard Elvis fan, collecting various memorabilia and knowing the words to every Elvis song.
Carol will be remembered for her generosity, creativity, dedication to her community and making the best cookies. Most important to Carol were her family and friends.
She leaves behind one son, Donald (Holly) Thierman Jr., of Portville; one daughter, Rosemarie (Wayne) Gerrell of Emerald Isle, N.C.; three grandchildren, Ryan (Emma) Thierman, Logan (Nate) Robertson and Kamryn Gerrell; three great-grandchildren with another on the way; one brother, Ronald (Linda) Klampt; two sisters, Dorothy Regis and Jody (Tim) Weaver; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Joyce and Dave Veno.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Barbara Pecora.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday (Jan. 30, 2026) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Services will begin at 4 p.m. Rev. Al Batt will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
