Richard G. Hughey

ELLICOTTVILLE — Richard G. Hughey “Howdy”, 85, of Ellicottville, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at his home. He was born on November 29, 1940 in Springville, son of the late Jack and Esther (Jenkel) Hughey. On September 21, 1963 he married the former Daniele Famery who survives. Richard worked construction for many years for the Eastern Summit in Springville as well Northrup’s Construction in Ellicottville. He always enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, especially hunting. He was a social member of the Little Valley VFW as well as the Ellicottville American Legion.

Besides his loving wife of 62 years, he is survived by a son, Richard (James Koch) Hughey of Chambersburg, PA, and a daughter, Michelle (Jerry) Wells of West Valley. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Samantha (Robbie) Green and Brittany (John) Hughes and a great-grandchild, Aurora, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Richard is predeceased by a brother Jim Hughey and his wife, Katie Hughey.

Private family services will be held.
