Milton J. Watson
He was born March 19, 1939, in Buffalo, a son of the late Richard and Frances Burmester Watson.
He was an entrepreneur, working on his farm for many years, and also did some woodworking.
Milton was the Machias Town historian for many years, a member of the Arcade United Methodist Church and was a past member and master of the Machias Grange 994. He was commonly known for recalling historical facts from his library, and was also a quick witted jokester.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Miller Watson; his children, Jennifer (Kent) Miller of Arcade, Marie Watson of Olean, Libby (Adam) Wojciechowski of Cuba, Laura Watson of Rochester and Claire Watson of Allegany; his stepchildren, David Rose of Texas, Amie (Christopher) Scarpine of Angola and Daniel (Angela) Rose of Holley; his siblings, Dale (Diane) Watson of Machias and Sandra Bull of Machias; as well as nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Milton Watson Jr.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 29, 2026) at the WS Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St. Arcade, where a funeral service will take place the following day at 11 a.m. with Pastor Vonnie Vredenburg officiating. Final interment will take place in Delevan Cemetery.
