Paul J. Roth

FILLMORE — Paul J. Roth, of 11003 Merwin Road, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday (Jan 20, 2026) in the Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born April 20, 1944, in Cheektowaga, a son of the late Elmer and Phyllis Estabrook Roth. On July 31, 1965, he married Linda Lee Miller, who predeceased him Oct. 11, 2025.

A graduate of Fillmore Central School, Paul pursued a successful career at Rochester Gas and Electric, where he served as a dispatcher before retiring. Following his tenure there, he became the owner and operator of Roth’s Repairs, a business founded by his father, furthering a legacy of hard work and dedication to service.

Paul’s contributions extended beyond his professional life; he was also a member of the Houghton Wesleyan Church, where he actively engaged with his community and shared his faith with those around him. His service to the country as a member of the U.S. Navy instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and commitment to his fellow citizens.

In his leisure time, Paul enjoyed diverse hobbies that reflected his love for the outdoors and craftsmanship. He was an avid hunter and had a passion for woodworking, skills that he honed over many years. A notable aspect of his personality was his remarkable rapport with the Amish community, earning him the affectionate title of “the Amish Whisperer.”

Surviving are his children, Paul Craig (Nancy) Roth of Fillmore and Sarah (Jeff) Luckey of Short Tract; his grandchildren, Dylan Luckey, Michaela (Shelby) Tucker and Corrin Roth; a brother, Samuel (Sue) Roth of Rush; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Elmer “Skeet” Roth Jr., David Roth and Daniel Roth.

Family and friends may gather from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (Jan. 30, 2026) at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, in the Houghton Wesleyan Church. Pastor Paul Shea will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton.
