Jeffrey A. Fye

OLEAN — Jeffrey A. Fye, 69, passed away Sunday (Jan. 18, 2026) at Olean General Hospital.

Born Sept. 25, 1956, in Olean, he was the son of Austin and Margaret Day Fye. On July 23, 2005, in Allegany, he married Shelly Rossman, who survives.

Jeff was a 1975 graduate of Olean High School. In 1975, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served until 1979. After his discharge from the air force, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1979 to 1983. In 2000, he reenlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and retired in 2014 as a tech sergeant.

Jeff also worked as a mail carrier in California in 1983 and then as a CNA at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean from 1995 to 2014.

In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, Star Trek, Garfield, collecting gnomes and watching the Buffalo Bills. He was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion and the Elks Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey Rossman of Salamanca, and Andrew (Amber) Rossman of Sunman; and grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kiara) Rossman Jr.,  Mackenzie Rossman, Penelope Rossman, Violet Rossman and Reagan Rossman.

He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Fye; two sisters, Judith Spring and Sandra Hoppy; and a niece, Lisa Klever.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 24, 2026) at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Olean.
