Phyllis M. Burch

YORKSHIRE — Phyllis M. Burch, of Yorkshire, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Machias, at the age of 94.

She was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Wellsville, a daughter of the late Leonard and Susie Hall Hackett.

Phyllis worked for many years as a bank teller at M&T Bank in Delevan and also helped manage Meals on Wheels, generously giving her time to serve others.

She loved flowers and birds and was a devoted member of the Yorkshire Free Methodist Church, where she held a deep love for the Lord.

She is survived by her sons, Dale (Joy) Burch of Machias and Steve (Lorri) Burch of Delevan; daughter-in-law, Shirley Burch of Arcade; friend, Cliff Zimmer; grandchildren, Harold Burch Jr., Debbie Bigham, Tika Isaacs, Tiffany Miller, Jared Burch, Joshua Burch, Heather Dibble, Michael Burch, Amy Hull and Kim Burch; 34 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Herman Burch, who passed away in 2000; her son, Harold Burch; siblings, Kenneth Hackett, Ruth Johnson, Martha Miller, Helen Torrence, Clayton Hackett, Susie Ioannone, Leonard Hackett Jr. and Shirley Mae Peterson; and her granddaughter, Christie Burch.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at the Yorkshire Free Methodist Church, with interment to follow in Arcade Rural Cemetery at a later date in the spring.

The family is so grateful for the tender loving care given to her by The Pines staff during the last two years of her life.
