Marion G. Mitchell

ALLEGANY — Marion G. Mitchell, 75, of Allegany, and a resident of Field of Dreams since 2022, passed away peacefully Monday (Jan. 5, 2026) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Marion was born April 5, 1950, in Kane, Pa. to Leon B. and Martha A. Cole Kern Sr.  In 1968 she married John Dennis Meacham, who predeceased her in 1971.  She later married William Joseph Mitchell, who died Dec. 19, 2024.

She was a 1969 graduate of Smethport Area High School.

She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and loved being with her family, especially her two grandsons, who were her everything. She made delicious spaghetti sauce which everyone loved, was a Buffalo Bills fan and had a nice collection of Seraphim angels.  She also loved watching television and having the company of her dogs nearby.

She leaves behind one son, Christopher (Sally) Meacham of Allegany; two grandsons, Jonah Meacham and Joshua Meacham; one sister, Sharon (David) LeMage of Custer City, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Delores “DeeDee” Kern of Utah; and many nieces and nephews. She also sadly leaves behind her beloved grand-pup, “Noah Meacham.”

She was predeceased by one sister, Grace Johnson; and two brothers, Leon Kern Jr. and James Kern.

Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 8, 2026) at Fairview Cemetery in Port Allegany, Pa.

Memorials may be made to a breast cancer awareness organization of the donor’s choice.
