A river runs through it
Fast-moving, ice-free water flows down the Allegheny River at the South Union Street bridge on Wednesday. The National Water Prediction Service reported the river gauge height at Olean was 4.63 feet as of 3:30 p.m. Wednesday with 2,710 cubic feet of water passing the station per second. The NWPS predicts the river cresting at 5.7 feet at about noon on Friday. The level would be the highest recorded yet this year, but far below the action stage of 10 feet or the minor flood stage of 12 feet.
